Increasing/decreasing retention for adjustable retention holster models

MDJ holsters are not only retention adjustable but they’re also ready to use straight out of the package. Certain holsters, may require a break-in period before the retention can be fully utilized. Here are some steps to take to get the most out of your holster’s adjustable retention.

Step 1: Check that the holster or magazine pouch is the correct model for your firearm.

Step 2: Ensure that your firearm is UNLOADED.

Step 3: Double check that your firearm is unloaded!

Step 4: Put the holster on your waistband in the appropriate location. Insert the firearm so that the pistol is fully seated in the holster.

Step 5: Draw the unloaded firearm to test the retention. This may need to be repeated a few times to get a good feel on what the retention is and how you would like to adjust it.

Step 6: Using a Philips screwdriver, adjust the retention screws by tightening or loosening the screw by 1/8 turn. Check the retention.

Step 7: Repeat Step Six until the desired retention has been achieved.
